I hired a youngster to walk my GPS around the water ponds that I make with the draglines.  If you look closely you can see him on the far side of the pond.  He said that he found water on top of the ice at a few places.  Now I can see on my computer how big my ponds are and I can measure the distance across.  A lot simpler than using a tape measure in summer to check the width.

A beautiful snowfall.  It now even looks like winter.

I'm not sure what happened here but it looks like someone is going to need a bit of help to get back on the road.

Today I had reached my limit.  I had just fixed another water leak 2 days ago and now I was supposed to fix one more.  So we disconnected the water lines and put in a new boiler.  Now it just works and it even seems to use less wood.

The trees looked pretty this morning.  A nice coating of hoar frost.  Neat.

There is a new gas line going in west of our place.  They put in the line across the field first and then pushed it through under the road.  Neat.

My son took some pictures of a bridge we worked on a number of years ago.  When we left all the steel was painted in the red primer color.  All the steel on the piles underneath we put on.  We rebuilt the ice breaker part of the bridge.  It was a winter project.  We parked the pickup under the bridge on the ice and did all the welding and drilling that was needed.  The biggest hazard was making sure the old dry wood didn't start burning and if it did we had to make out the fire.

No point in going on a trip and not getting to see a dragline.

It occurred to me that there sure is lots of cable on this bridge.  If it wasn't the wrong size I could use it for my machines.  This bridge is on highway 2 north of Grande Prairie, AB.

Just a few of the many pet rocks I dig out of the water.  The rock in the bottom right corner is approximately 18 inches high.  Should give you some idea of the size of some of the rocks.

Just for something different we tried building moving.  It actually went quite well but I don't think I want it for a career.
