Finally a pile of gravel.

June 16, 2006
Finally the 88B is in a different location.  Now we just need to finish up loose ends and put it to work.

I don't think this is the way they normally heat buses.  If it is I think it got out of hand.

Guilty as charged. He got caught working.

June 10, 2006
Things are starting to look up.

June 8, 2006
Once there were 5, now there are 4.

I guess someone will have to find a new way to emty this silo.  I don't think the normal system will work too well in this position.

June 4, 2006
Our boys were at an air show yesterday. I think this is a bit of wishful thinking.

June 3, 2006
After the sprocket is in the main chain had to be replaced.

Today we replaced the pinion gear for the drumshaft.  The chain sprocket is the same one we took out.  The gear we replaced is on the same shaft and a lot smaller than the sprocket you can see.

Almost ready to try starting.  Just need to add v belts to starting engine. Note the open roof in the background.  Still need to put some parts back in through the roof.

May 31, 2006
The rocks in this pit are hard on a bucket.  Spent 2.5 hrs fixing up the front of the bucket.  These are before and after pictures.

May 30, 2006
Slowly but surely it's starting to look like an engine again.

May 24, 2006
Some growing boys think they are hungry.

May 24, 2006
We were almost ready to put the last head on and we found out that one hole for a head bolt was stripped.  So the big boys came out from Cummins and put in a new insert.  Now it's just like new.

May 22, 2006
My mechanic wanted the roof off to change a gear inside.  Wonder if he does that at home too when he gets a new freezer.

May 21, 2006
Spent the evening sitting by the fire and then closed it off with fireworks.

May 20, 2006
Had some trouble getting the rings loose.  Had to soak them in carborater solution overnight and them work at them to get them loose.  This is the last one.

May 20, 2006
The engine heads are ready to be put back on to the Cummins V12 525. There are four of them. Sure look better than when they came off.

May 19, 2006
Spent some time forgetting about draglines. Spent the evening at the Gaither Homecoming Anniversary Tour.

May 18, 2006
This air compressor should be able to handle some air leaks.

May 17, 2006
My mechanic said the starter was in the way so he took it out.  Sure wonder if he thinks it will go better with "Coke".

May 13, 2006
I got some chains that were used at a sawmill or something like it and after cutting off the cross pieces I want to use them for drag chains on my dragline bucket. 21 links per piece.

May 11, 2006
My son runs a real loader.

May 9, 2006
The mechanic said it's hard to climb up things.  He wanted wheelchair access.

May 6, 2006
Leaving an engine alone and unused for 12 years is not always a good idea.  The starter is in the lower right corner.

May 2, 2006
This pit sure has the odd rock in the gravel.
